Pooja Plates of different metals for different purpose

In a Hindu family, Pooja forms the prime and prior task on every morning before going to work. It is a form of praying, paying obeisance, honoring and praising God for whatever God has given, seek blessings in every task without any obstacle.

In the Pooja room, we notice different types of plates serving different purpose. They are Prasad Plate, Aarti Plate and Thilak Plate. Let us explore the significance of Pooja Plates made for different purpose in the make of different metals commonly used in Pooja such as Copper, Brass, Silver brought to you by Amazon India.

1. Prasad Plate:

“Prasad” in Sanskrit means “Favour” or “Grace”. Prasad usually are eatable items offered to the God with the belief that God partakes it and returns the offering making it sacred by God’s grace. This is then distributed to all the devotees. It signifies giving and receiving between the devotee and the God expressing the cosmic bond between them. The prasad usually served to the Deity are Coconut, flowers, fruits and Tulsi herbs.

This Prasad could be well served in a Copper Pooja Thali made by Ufinite. But be cautious as not to put or store other open raw foods like Kheer, laddu, Modhak etc., on this Copper Vessel as it not good for your health.

Ufinite Copper Pooja Thali:

These are available in 4 sizes: 15 x 15 x 15cm, 17 x17 x17 cm, 19 x 19 x 2 cm and 21 x 21 x 2 cm as per your need. You could use this as you wish in your Pooja. As per my personal opinion, I do suggest to use it as a Prasad Plate rather than Aarti Plate because the well crafted inscribed letters of “Om” syllable and “Gayathri Mantra” gets discoloured and might fade away in the course of time after its regular use as an Aarti Plate. Careful handling with good finish makes this Prasad Plate unique and subtle. It looks as though the Prasad would be sanctified by its inscribed text and drawings.

2. Aarti Plate:

There is a necessity of a big Aarti and a small Aarti Plate in the Pooja room if the pooja is especially regarding a particular deity like Satyanarayana Pooja, Shanishwar Pooja etc. In this Pooja process, after several small Aarti by a small Aarti plate, a big Aarti follows and ends the Pooja in a pompous manner by a big Aarti Plate. So both this Karpoor Small Aarti Plate and Big Aarti Plate are required together.

Aarti generates the positive energy. It awakens the mind to be alert so that no worldly pleasures and wishes could come in between to obstruct the bond between the Deity and the Devotee. The combined effect of the lighted wicks of Diya, Aarti and the Bell/Drum disperses around to obstruct the outside noises, attraction in order to focus the attention upon the God.

Beside this Aarti, Diya, Bell there are other Pooja items that completes the purpose of the Pooja. They are Dhoop/Agarbathi Holders, Panchamruth Tumbler with Spoon and Kalash.

Dhoop and Agarbathi in its Holder creates an aura of pleasant serene atmosphere filled with fragrance and its fumes gets rid off bacteria, bad odour, germs from the environment.

Panchamruth in the Panchamruth Tumbler cleanses the body and has health benefits of five herbs of Tulsi, Aruga, Vembu, Vilvam, Vanni infused and mixed with pure water. It is offered to God and then distributed to the devotees after Pooja as Prasada.

Kalash is also called “Kumbh”. Water stored in the Brass vessel has the purifying effect on the body and mind. This is distributed as “Theertham” in the form of offering to the Devotees.

All these Pooja Items are assembled in one Pooja Thali Set, Spillbox Traditional Handcrafted Pooja Thali in which every item is made of Brass metal.

Sandalwood paste, Turmeric, Kumkum, Bhasm has its own reasons to apply it as Thilak.

  1. Head is the center of continuous thoughts. It is always churned and heated by the flow of continuous thought process. Sandalwood paste on the forehead has the cooling and soothing effect.
  2. Kumkum is a mercuric sulfide that reduces stress and fatigue.
  3. Turmeric is said to eliminate negative energies, regulate body aura, has medicinal properties on the skin health.
